About the Foundation

Our Mission
The mission of the Hanger Foundation is to empower people with physical challenges to live life as fully as possible. Since inception, the foundation has granted $4 million to the O&P community including 96 nonprofit orgs, diversity scholarships and global relief.
Our Goals
- To positively impact the lives of those in need
- To invest in the communities in which we live and work
- To engage our employees in charitable efforts
Our History
Hanger’s heritage of charitable giving dates back to the company’s founding in 1861. For many years, Hanger clinicians and employees consistently and generously donated millions of dollars in free care and financial contributions to a variety of causes, including hardship cases in their own communities. In 2009, Hanger formalized and increased its philanthropic work by establishing a non-profit organization, the Hanger Foundation.
Driven by the vision that all people deserve to feel empowered and to live life as fully as possible, the Hanger Foundation partners with grassroots nonprofit organizations and universities to provide experiences and opportunities that would otherwise be missed.
The Hanger Foundation helps fund:
- Rehabilitation and support services for related illnesses or trauma (ex: stroke, sports injuries, combat-related injuries)
- Athletic programs, social activities, and events for individuals with physical challenges with a special emphasis on amputees and people with limb difference
- Scholarships that equip students from diverse backgrounds with the tools they need to successfully pursue a career in the orthotic and prosthetic profession
