About Texan of the Year 2024
The Texan of the Year Gala benefitting Variety, the Children's Charity of Texas, is an annual fundraising event that serves as a platform to recognize and honor the remarkable achievements and philanthropic endeavors of exceptional (and honorary) Texans who have made significant contributions to Variety and the individuals we serve. This year, we are honoring Universal Pictures as our Texan of the Year with a boot-scootin' good time! A huge supporter of our mission and dedicated to Variety kids across the globe, Universal Pictures has empowered Variety to raise over $5 million with their Gold Heart Pins.
With a classic cowboy western theme for our 2023 gala, we are excited to showcase all Variety has accomplished with the help of generous donors and attendees. Come for the kids, stay for the mechanical bull, live Longhorn photo opportunity, midway games and notorious chicken bingo. But the festivities don't end there! The following day we will be hosting the Al Webster Memorial golf tournament, which celebrates the life of long-time board member and friend of Variety, Al Webster.
